Watch out world
This past week I was notified about the status of the Fulbright scholarship that applied for this past fall. I applied for an English teaching assistantship in South Korea. The selection committee has recommended me to the next step towards receiving the scholarship. I will find out the final decision about the Fulbright Scholarship this spring. If I receive the scholarship I will be moving to Korea in July for thirteen months. I will live with a family and teach English at a Korean grade school. I think that the program would be a once in a lifetime opportunity and I was lucky enough to be able to apply.
If I do not receive the award I plan on pursing teaching opportunities in Philadelphia and New York. For months I have anticipated the decision from the Fulbright Committee, but despite the decision, I know that I have a lot to look forward to in the upcoming months. I do not want to wish away the last months of college and I am trying my best to savor every moment left.
Either outcome, I still have to get my resume together for future job opportunities. Thank goodness for UD's career services because they have been a wonderful resource for resume building and interviewing practice. I hope that I find out about Korea soon because next month UD is holding an education career fair. I am getting one-on-one assistance with my resume and the interview practice has been coordinated with real principals from local schools.
I can't believe I am going to be a real person in a few months...watch out world : )
