KOREA!
I am moving to Korea! I have been offered a grant from Fulbright Program and I will be moving in July to for an English Teaching Assistantship. WOW! The letter offering the grant was delivered to my Dayton house after I had left for spring break. My roommates called me excitedly and I had them open the envelope because I was not going to be able to wait a week to hear the news. I was alone in my car when they called, but their enthusiasm made me feel like we were celebrating together. Thanks Coryn and Faith!
My mind is racing with all of the exciting things that could happen over the year that I will spend in Korea. First, I will attend orientation in Chuncheon with the other American Fulbrights. Following orientation, I will be placed at a school to teach English and live with a local family.
I feel like I have a list of things that I would like to do in Korea that is constantly scrolling through my head. I am excited to learn about Korean culture, meet new people and travel around Asia. I will learn Hangul and some basic Korean phrases before I leave for orientation, but I am really looking forward to learning the Korean language in an immersion setting.
I am still in the beginning stages of accepting the grant and am still awaiting further information. I will continue to update as I learn specifics about my year in Korea.
