Home

It is funny being home. I love it. I'm not a huge fan of unpacking, but I know that the more that gets unpacked and organized, the closer I am to packing for Korea. Last week, my mother and I went out and bought one of the largest suitcases I have ever seen. This week, my friend Gillian and I went outlet shopping and picked out lots of conservative clothing that will be acceptable in Korea. The socially acceptable clothing in Korea is much more conservative than here, and I am even erring on the conservative side of their norms. Better safe than sorry.

This week was a culminating week for me. I gave a completed copy of my thesis to the school district that I surveyed for my study. The meeting led to a discussion of my results and future positive change in education. The discussion was refreshing and made me miss the similar talks that I used to have with my advisor.

Yesterday was a special day for my family. My little brother, Kevin, was acknowledged as the local Rotary chapter's student of the month. My family and I were invited to the Rotary breakfast meeting where Kevin was honored and gave a beautiful speech of thanks. Kevin has been very involved in service organizations such as the Rotary affiliated group, Interact. Last night, Kevin was honored again for his service and commitment to his community and school with multiple awards from his senior awards banquet. He epitomizes the moto of service above self. Days like yesterday make me so proud, but a little sad because I will not be able to go to similar events for the next year. Yay Kevin!

Believe it or not, but I am still doing laundry from college. I brought home almost my whole closet as dirty clothes. A few loads a day and I am almost done.
