Graduation Day
Sunday morning went by so quickly. After very little sleep, we all woke up, dressed in our Sunday best and headed over to graduation. My caffeine addicted family and I stopped at Starbucks on the way, but we arrived to the arena at the same time as my roommates. My roommates and I awkwardly tried putting on our gowns, hoods and hats. It took some teamwork, but we figured it out. Thank goodness for our college educations.
There were lots of smiles and some tears as we lined up for the procession into the arena. When I finally arrived to my seat it became real. The ceremony was what I expected: many words of wisdom, lots of names, and a final blessing. The blessing concluded the ceremony and it was the perfect ending to close this chapter in life. I loved college. Sometimes I missed home, other times I did not want to be anywhere else in the world but UD. College offered me so many opportunities and experiences that I could not have had anywhere else. I am so grateful for my experiences and my education. I feel prepared to take on the world and start the next chapter of my life.
Following the ceremony, we took lots of post graduation pictures. My Dad is a wonderful photographer and he was sure to capture every moment. My family and some close friends had brunch in the back room of a small restaurant in the Oregon District. My mother made a board of all Meghan pictures throughout college. The brunch was the perfect opportunity to spend time relaxing after such a crazy weekend.
Up next was packing up our little blue house. I hate packing and this was not a fun part of the weekend. Somehow I got four years of college into two cars. There was not much room to spare but Babs and I fit into my front seats and headed home Monday morning. Without much time to spare, I unpacked the cars and left almost everything on the carpet in my room. (Sorry Dad, I swear I will have it organized by the end of the week!) Tuesday morning I flew to Daytona Beach, Florida to spend a week with 2000 of my Dayton classmates for the last time.
