Spirit Chain and Halloween Antics

As a high schooler, my superlative in the yearbook was 'most school spirit'. As a teacher, I would love that superlative too. Either that or 'coolest teacher'. It goes against everything we're taught in class...don't try to be cool, you have to teach your students first. Honestly, I believe my students are more willing to learn if they thin I'm cool. As a result, I attempted to be the cool student teacher participate in spirit chain this week.

Spirit Chain is a competition between two high schools who are both trying to raise money for charity. Spirit Week goes along with the fundraising, and during the week seniors are competing for Spirit King and Queen (whoever raises the most money wins!) This year, they added a teacher category. My classes decided that my cooperating teacher was running for 'Spirit Goddess'. I really thought she had the best costumes all week long. Monday was Monochromatic Monday, Jersey Day Tuesday, Wacky Wednesday, Halloween Costume Thursday, and Black and Gold Friday.

Each day I got progressively more spirited. I branched out a bit more each day and since both of my cooperating teachers are wonderful...I was able to bend the dress code rules for me quite a bit in order to participate in spirit week as a faculty member.

Thursday I had to come up with a costume that wasn't too distracting..so I was a nerd! Still professionally dressed...just wearing a turquoise shirt, lime green tie, and purple suspenders! I thought it was clever..and it actually matched pretty well.

I wasn't the biggest fan of my nerd costume, so I used Thursday as a way to search for costume ideas. I was able to make a big list for me and some of my friends to choose from. Here's what I decided on:
I'm wearing an eye patch, a unicorn horn, wings, and all purple...
I'm a one-eyed, one-horned, flying, purple, people-eater!!
I have very creative students :)
