How was your break?
Samples of conversations that took place today:
Person #1: How was your break?
Person #2: Relaxing. How was yours?
Person #1: Good. It was fun.
Person #2: What did you do?
Person #1: Slept a lot. Watched some movies. Played with my dog. Hung out with my family...
Samples of conversations that I had today:
Anyone I talked to: How was your break?
Me: Amazing! I never thought I'd say this, but I wish I was still in Oklahoma!
Anyone: Oklahoma?!?! Why did you go to Oklahoma? What's there?
Me: Well, one of my friends lives there. She played softball at Oklahoma State and now she teaches middle school math there...
Depending on how long I could keep someone entertained today, I could tell stories for at least an hour about all the different things that happened this break.
Some of the notable stories include:
-sleeping in (possibly the first time since May)
-going to school with Meghan and watching her teach (she did her student teaching in P.E., but currently teaches 6th and 7th grade math)
-battling Oklahoma flash floods after school (i hate getting wet and we splashed through puddles and took alternate routes home when the road was flooded)
-coming home to find Meghan's dog ate my phone charger (which was totally my fault for leaving him in Meghan's room...I thought he could get out!)
-going to her FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) meeting and getting called on and having to explain that I'm not from Oklahoma(also seeing how different FCA is from Athletes in Action)
-stepping into the Oklahoma State University softball field and being in awe (the office was beautiful and the lockerroom still has me speechless)
-walking onto the Oklahoma State University football field (Meghan made me walk out onto the end zone)
-checking out the workout facilities for the OSU athletes
-skyping with our friend Hannah (while I fell asleep)
-lots of singing at the top of my lungs (mostly to Taylor Swift or Miley Cyrus...is it my fault those songs are so catchy?)
-attempting to go to the Softball Hall of Fame, only to find it closed (It's only open Memorial Day to Labor Day)
-visiting the Capital Building (and finding my Indian Princess Tribe's name in the list of Oklahoma Indian Tribes)
-touring the Oklahoma City National Monument and Museum
-making goofy videos (and memories) and taking obnoxious amounts of pictures (as every good trip should include)
-riding a mechanical bull (the guy running the bull went easy on the ladies)
-and finally...what's a trip without a good airport story. I could probably write a blog solely on the events of my traveling yesterday. There was confusion, delays, missed connections, and lay-overs, but I made it home!
Dare I say my trip to Oklahoma was the best fall break I've ever had? It was VERY eventful. As you can tell. And I've probably got more stories than I would ever be able to list!
When we got in the car to take me to the airport on Sunday, Meghan turns to me and says, "You know, there was a point when I thought this weekend was going to last forever." I would have to completely agree. When I saw Meghan Wednesday night, I thought to myself...wow. I've got a long visit ahead of me. Even waking up on Friday, I thought I still had a lot of time. Now that I'm back at school (ready to accomplish big things and make major strides on my massive to-do list) I'm sort of wishing I could go back to Oklahoma and have another break. I'm sure everyone is wishing they could go back to whereever they went for break. (Even if they didn't go anywhere.)
Looks like I need to plan another trip to Oklahoma in June...
Did I mention that the Softball Hall of Fame was closed? Besides going to see Meghan, why else would I want to go to Oklahoma?? I'm going to be like a kid on Christmas when I finally get to see that place!
