The busy life of a soon to be graduate!

Well I am sure that by now everyone knows that I will be graduating here in a few short weeks so it would only be fitting if I told you what I have been up to lately getting ready for that big day. First off senior project, the capstone project for all engineers, is going really well, we have been meeting with our client like every week and they are really happy with the data that we have been presenting them. As a matter of fact last week we had a final design review and they accepted our proposal so now we are approximately 2 weeks ahead of our schedule and next Thursday we will be having a big presentation where we will be again pitching our idea to the plant manager and other key people at the company ~we will keep our fingers crossed and make sure that all goes well~. Needless to say our whole team really hit the ground running and has not stopped yet but we will have an advantage because we will, hopefully, not be so stressed out during the presentation week! Besides senior project all of my classes are going pretty well, I just took a history test, it was tough, so we will see how it goes. Ooh, let me not forget to mention that I got my cap and gown this week and it was just one of the small signs that this time is coming up really fast and then I will be thrown into the 'real world' but I am ready since I have co-oped at the company I will be working for, I believe that I will really like it.

Most recently, last night, I attended the scholarship dinner with is something that we have on campus every year where we, the students and the University, honor our generous donors; I personally would not have made it through this institution without the kindness and support of my scholarship donors. This is a wonderful event and hopefully all that will be attending UD on scholarship I hope that you are invited to and accept the invitation to the scholarship dinner. Along with being a scholarship recipient I am a President's Emissary (PE) which is a liaison group between our great UD President, Dr. Dan Curran and the student body (this is a great campus organization and I encourage you all to apply to be in this group, I guarantee that you would not regret this wonderful opportunity). As a PE my first job, prior to the dinner, was to drive Board of Trustee members around campus on golf carts and just show them how their decisions are affecting the campus. Now, being around the Trustees is automatically an honor and they are very down to earth people with high influence on all of the major decisions made at UD. If that intimidates you, do not let it, they are a great bunch of down to Earth people and taking them on golf cart tours is even more fun, they are really eager to see the campus and ask you, as a student, about your experience and satisfaction because like I said, they have the ability to make changes. Now at the dinner I got to mingle with really important people and NETWORK! If you are not already sold then I must not have mentioned how good the food was... for hors dourves we had jumbo shrimp cocktail, assorted fruits and veggie trays, brie and jelly, mushroom tarts, hot cider and many many more but those were just my favorites. Mind you, this was all prior to the dinner. Ooh, I forgot to mention the beautiful decorations; you would have never known that we were in the RexPlex, student gym. During the dinner the food continued to become even more fabulous but the real sense of UD community was shining through. The program included live music, a President's address, faculty and staff comments and student responses which were the most interesting to listen to in my opinion because they really conveyed how much we, students, appreciate our scholarship donors. Well, I really cannot completely convey how powerful this dinner is but hopefully you will be able to attend this wonderful occasion when you are at UD!

Well, I guess that is it on my life for now and I will be chatting at you all lata!
