4-H Safety Speaking Contest
When I was a 4-H member, I participated in many 4-H Safety Speaking Contests. I was lucky enough the win local, district, and even state 4-H Safety Speaking Contests multiple times. Since I have been out of high school, and no longer a 4-H member, I have been a judge for the local and also one of the district safety speaking contests. Last night was the Marion County contest. I was really pleased with the number of members we had participating this year. It was the largest number we have had in many years - 15 in total. That number included the young members who just got up and said the 4-H pledge, as well as the junior and senior members participating in the actual speech contest. All of the 4-H'ers did a great job and I was really proud of them. It was hard to decide the winners. Luckily, I did not have to do that alone. There were three other judges. Marion County will be well represented at the district competition.
