Sigma Chi Parent's Weekend
Well, it was a fantastic weekend, to say the least. Friday, I finished up my Father Putka midterm, walked to the Sigma Chi house and got a haircut, which looks pretty damn good, if I do say so myself. Then it was over to the Marriott to meet up with my mommy.
Mother and I then piled into the Saturn she rented, and we zipped out to the Dayton mall, to hit up the Best Buy. There, I picked up a memory card for my camera, and I was treated to a nice little present. Walk The Line, widescreen, on DVD. I'm a massive Cash fan, so this was a huge deal.
Friday night, we went out to dinner with the Kelly's and one of Jackie's friends. We went to an Italian place, the name of which eludes me now, but it was ball-bustingly good. I had the Drunken Shrimp, which, in retrospect may have been ironic considering the events of the weekend. But I won't get into that.
After dinner, we went to the Sigma Chi house for a cocktail party. Mom met some brothers and saw the house. I think she was sufficiantly impressed, seeing as how it is the sweetest house in the Ghetto. We schmoozed there for a while, I took mom home, and then Pat and I whittled away the rest of the evening walking drunk girls home.
Saturday was another fun day, Mom and I went to Salvation Army to get me a new used suit, then it was back out near the Dayton Mall to see my favorite store, TJ Max. God, I love that place so much.
Then it was time for Mass and the dinner cum action. Mass was lovely, Mr. Jeff Blackwood did a fine job singing. There was a couple of really awesome things up for auction, both the silent and live. I had my eyes on a Sigma Chi cornhole set, but once it zoomed past $500 it was out of our range. The biggest event of the night was for sure the puppy that ended up selling for $2200. It was a pretty adorable pup, but I don't think I'd spend quite that much on an animal that can't pick up it's own feces.
After the dinner, it was back to campus, it was fun night, but I won't get into the details.
Sunday, I overslept, but then Momma came and took me to Kroger's to load me up on some snacks. This was key, as I enjoy good food. Then Mommy had to head home.
I had my pledge meeting, passed the test, went back to my room and watched Walk the Line. It was amazing. It really should have won every award it was up for. Joaquin Pheonix just totally became Johnny Cash. But, what's done is done, and it was a winner in my book, everyone should see it.
I've got a 6 AM flight home on Saturday, barf-a-rama, but then it is smooth sailing for spring break. I aim to listen to lots of Ben Harper and have a blast in Kansas City for a night or two. It'll be good to see my family and friends that I have missed for so long. Who would believe that the semester is half over already? Not this SOB, that's for damn sure.
