We're Ranked 11th in 'Everyone Plays Intramural Sports'
I'm proud to say that the Princeton Review has ranked UD 11th in the category of "Everyone plays intramural sports." It was just yesterday that I finally got to play my first intramural game of the year. We have formed a team called the "Marianist Mayhem," consisting of anyone from any of our Marianist Student Community houses that wants to play. We have a volleyball, soccer, and softball team. The other night I was a little adventurous and went out to play a game of softball with the team. I haven't played softball since I was 11, so I was definitely a bit rusty. But it was fun nonetheless, and it helped me realize why our school is rated so highly when to comes to intramural sports.
Now, being the huge advocate of UD that I am, I could easily argue that our school should be ranked that high (if not higher) for many more things, but when looking closely at it, being ranked high for intramurals actually says a lot about a school. The biggest thing I think that implies is that we have a great community. "Community," the most overused word at UD is really what makes us so unique. Every college probably emphasizes community, but I think the people at UD truly LIVE it. You can't have fun in intramural sports without a great community as a backbone. If you didn't have that, you wouldn't have the friendly competition you get at our intramural games. I feel so lucky to know that I go to a school where you can find a great community in anything from the intramural sports to the daily walk to class.
Oh, and GO MARIANIST MAYHEM!
