The Smells of Summer
The beautiful weather lately has finally made it feel like summer. When we first moved in, it was cold and cloudy for probably an entire week, but the past week or so it's been absolutely gorgeous outside. When I walk down the hill for work each day, I can't get over how nice the weather is...so going for a run outside is the first thing I think about when I get off. I could even SMELL the summer-ish smells today as I walked home from work. I can't describe it, but it just smelled like summer. You just know that smell when you come across it. I have to take advantage of this time now, because before we know it, that typical Ohio summer weather will kick in and it'll be unbearably humid out, making it impossible to run outside for any extended period of time during the middle of the day. Thankfully, I live SO close to RecPlex again, so it's a great place to workout when the weather doesn't want to cooperate.
It's nice that I have a day off tomorrow, because starting Saturday, I work 7 days straight. I'm excited for the money I'll be making, but I'm still not completely used to working a full 40 hour week. During the school year I work about 7 hours, so jumping up to 40 is a pretty big leap, I just have to learn to adjust. Even with the huge increase in the hours I work, I have much more free time because classes and homework don't take up any of it...it's a nice feeling. And each day, I discover more people who are on campus this summer, which is always exciting! I love running into someone new as I'm walking to work, we both look at each other excitedly, and the first words out of our mouths are, "You are staying on campus this summer, too?!?"
It's going to be a great summer...but maybe that should be present tense rather than future, because it HAS been a great summer, it's almost June already!
