The Perfect Bookends

Growing up in Columbus, Ohio, the NFL was never a big deal for me. When it comes to football, THE Ohio State Buckeyes are all the matter--we don't have time for pro teams because our city is so Buckeye-obsessed. So when I came to college, it was weird to meet such hardcore NFL fans. Bengals, Browns, Colts, Saints, Broncos, Steelers, and Bears fans were everywhere, just to name a few. I couldn't quite understand this pro-football obsession at first just because I had grown up in a very college-football centered environment. However, being that I have many friends at UD who are from the Pittsburgh area, I began to pay attention to NFL a bit more just because I've been hearing them talk about the Steelers since freshmen year. Of course, freshmen year the Steelers won the Super Bowl....for the first time in our lifetime (a whole 18 years at that time). Anyway, since then I've always been inclined to root for the Steelers because of my friends. I'm not a huge fan, but it's fun to support them when their team wins.

Well, as I'm sure you all know, the Steelers just WON the Super Bowl AGAIN! The reason this is so exciting is because it really did bookend our college career...they won our freshmen year, then again senior year! How exciting for all my Pittsburgh friends....they are obsessed with their team and it was so much fun to cheer along with them. Because my roommate Pam is from Pittsburgh, we decided to host the festivities for the evening. My roommates and I all made a few different Super Bowl appropriate dishes such as dips and of course, CHILI. It was my first time making chili, actually, so I was really excited about it. Luckily, it turned out pretty well! Needless to say, it was a well-enjoyed Super Bowl Sunday. Plenty of food, a great game to watch, a good team to cheer for, and a perfect bookend to our senior year...GO STEELERS!
