The Enjoyment of Final Exam Week
1 final down, 3 more to go! I just finished my first final of the week and it feels great to be done with, especially since it was the hardest one of the week. This past weekend I've spent more than 18 hours collectively in the library since our first study day on Friday. The best part is that my friends and I have been occupying the same booth in the LTC since then. The LTC is the best place to study because it's not as quiet as the rest of the library. I would probably go insane with such a silent atmosphere...it's just not the way I prefer to study. Instead, the LTC is a more relaxed environment where you can talk when you need a study break. And then when I need to focus, I just put my headphones on, turn on my iTunes, and I'm set to study for a couple hours with no distractions. The best part of the LTC is that it's where the Blend is located...our campus coffee shop. They are open extended hours this week for finals and people like me who run on caffeine during a time like this. I'm not one who normally advocates substituting sleep for coffee, but during finals week, I make an exception. Today I even ordered their weekly special: a vanilla latte with FOUR shots of espresso. Woah.
For some reason, I find this week strangely exhilarating and exciting. Maybe it's because I'm a huge nerd, or maybe it's because I'm just so delusional due to my lack of sleep, so I get this "slap happy" feeling about everything that happens...but either way, I love it. It's almost a love-hate relationship. I loathe the studying and actually taking the tests, but enjoy the challenge and proving that I can study for hours upon hours and kick butt on my final exams. There's no better feeling than moving out at the end of the year knowing you took advantage of the library's extended hours, extra coffee, and abundant study space. Plus, after this I'll only have two more finals weeks left of my undergraduate college career...let's live finals week to its fullest!
I've even gone so extreme this week as to make a "schedule" for the study booth we have here in the LTC. The study booths are in high demand during a time like this and are almost NEVER available. So I had three of my friends and I have sign up for certain times to make sure we are here to study and keep the booth occupied. The system works quite well, despite the fact my friends thought I was crazy when I initially came up with this idea. Like I said, I'm trying to get the most out of this week, and having a study booth is part of the enjoyment. There's nothing better than a comfortable study space. I've spent more time in this booth in the past three days than in my own house. Now that's dedication!
