Summer Reading!

With summertime here, I find myself with a lot more free time than I normally have. Besides working, spending time with my friends, and working out at the RecPlex, what else is there to do? For the first couple weeks of summer, I was so bored because I had no idea how to use this extra time, but then I soon found the solution to my problem: Harry Potter. Most of my friends are huge fans of the books...they've read each of them at least five times (and I might be underestimating). But for some reason, I never got into the Harry Potter craze, so people used to gasp in horror when they found out I had never read these wonderful books. So I decided that this summer would be the perfect time to take up the task of reading all 7 Harry Potter books and finally seeing what all the hype is about. I love any kind of reading in general, but getting into a certain book series is always a little more exciting because you become SO invested in the character's lives by the end. I'm currently reading the fourth book: The Goblet of Fire and I think that as I continue on in the series, each book keeps getting better (and longer!). I am more than halfway through this book but still have about 300 pages left! In order to accompany my new hobby, my friends and I have also been watching one Harry Potter movie each week. I haven't seen the movies either (this is where I get another gasp from my friends), so we've been watching each movie as I finish the books. My goal is to be done with this book by Wednesday or Thursday so that we can watch the fourth movie. Having a time-constraint for reading my book feels a little bit like homework except much more fun. I'd rather get book deadlines for Harry Potter than due dates for turning in a paper...so I'll let you know if I reach the deadline in time to watch the next movie!
