Spring Breakouts!

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I'm going to Tijuana, Mexico this spring break for what UD calls a "Spring Breakout." UD has both international and domestic trips each year, and I am lucky enough to be able to go on an international one! Basically, a breakout is a service immersion trip, so we head down there to serve, while immersing ourselves in the culture at the same time. There are 12 of us going to Tijuana and we are staying at on orphanage where we will help watch the children there, and just help out wherever is needed. I'm so excited to take a trip like this where I can really learn so much about a different culture and serve others at the same time.

Each week, our breakout group gets together to prepare for our trip. We talk about the culture, brush up on our Spanish skills, and get to know each other better so we can get the most out of our international experience together. One student going on our trip with us is from Puerto Rico, so he will be our main translator. After him, I am probably the next best Spanish speaker there (considering I lived in Spain last summer!), so I'm pretty nervous about making sure I still have those Spanish skills I honed in Spain this summer. We leave Friday, March 14...until then, I'll be practicing Spanish like crazy!
