Speeding Up

So now that it's the end of July and I'm back from vacation, the next few weeks are going to fly by. We start classes in less than a month! I'm not sure where the summer went, because I can still remember moving into Stuart at the beginning of May, but now I'm moved into my house for this fall! It's almost impossible to keep up with how fast everything is moving right now. Between moving into a new house, working, getting ready for the semester to start, and trying to enjoy our last summer nights, there isn't really time for anything else!

In the midst of the fast-paced lifestyle at UD right now, my friends and I managed to get out of our campus bubble and enjoy the actual city of Dayton this weekend. Last night we went to the Celtic Festival where we got to try some Irish beer, eat Irish food, and listen to some wonderful Gaelic music. The great thing about UD is how close our campus is to downtown. We only had to drive a few minutes and we were downtown at the festival! Then, we went downtown again today for the Second Street Market. The Market has become our new favorite Saturday morning activity. They have tons of local vendors selling everything from hand-crafted jewelry and paintings to produce and freshly baked bread. I even try to buy most of my groceries there, actually. Currently, I'm eating a salad with all locally grown produce along with some locally baked bread! The Market is probably my new favorite thing about Dayton, and it's quite sad that it took me three years to discover. So, a word if wisdom to those future Flyers out there: embrace the city of Dayton as soon as possible...don't wait until the last minute to get out there and see what lies beyond the campus boundaries, because once you discover it, it might be too late!
