SPAIN SOON!
In just one day I leave for Spain! Right now, I'm more excited than nervous. I used to be nervous, wondering how I would live there for a month without speaking any English, but after talking to so many people about it, they've helped reassure me that I will catch on so quickly. I mean, I have been taking Spanish classes since eighth grade...I'm sure I've learned something those past seven years. Plus, my friend Ali is staying with the same host family as me, so at least we'll have each other for moral support!
I think what excites me most about this trip is that this is something I've wanted to do since I was in high school. I remember during one of my early high school years, in either Spanish 2 or 3 thinking that it would be so cool to study abroad in Spain and take Spanish classes. Who knew that 5 years later I'd actually be doing that!
I'm also really excited to get to know the rest of the students that are going on this trip. There are about 50 of us, I think, and we're all from UD so it'll be great to meet so many new people from school.
I'm hoping classes there aren't too hard. However, taking SPANISH in SPAIN has got to be a million times better than taking it in America, so I can't complain. Plus, when I'm done with classes, I'll have a completed minor in Spanish, how awesome?! The question, however, is if I should keep going, and pursue a double major, rather than just a minor. It's a lot more work, but I know it would be worth it. Maybe I'll wait to make that decision until after I get back from Spain, that way I can re-evaluate just how much better my language skills have gotten after living in the country for a month.
Well, I should probably finish packing...it's really hard for me to learn how to pack lightly, but I'm doing my best! Hopefully I'll have easy access to the internet while I'm abroad. If so, you can bet you'll hear from me! I'll try to post at least once while I'm over there if I have the opportunity! Until then...HASTA LUEGO!
