PORCHES! A Necesity at UD.

I think I've posted a picture of our house on here before, but just in case you don't remember, we don't have just one, but we have THREE porches on our house this year. It's pretty much the best thing about living here (besides my six amazing roommates of course), and right now has been the best time to utilize our front, back, and upstairs porch. In case you're not convinced yet why having a porch in the Darkside (or Ghetto) is essential, I've made up a top 10 list to help people understand the necessity...

1) Porch conversations: you can always get into some great deep intellectual convos while sitting on the porch during a cool fall night with your friends.
2) Naps: this might not work for everyone, but since we have an upstairs porch (the balcony), we have carpet and a couch out there...so it's an ideal place to get some peace and quiet after a long day of classes.
3) Homework: you've got to do it eventually, so you might as well do it somewhere with a good ambiance.
4) Escape the heat: most of the houses in the neighborhood aren't air conditioned, so it's a great way to beat the heat instead of sitting inside a stuffy house with a million box fans.
5) Internet-usage: the campus is completely wireless, why not take advantage of it? Sitting at a desk with your computer isn't nearly as comfortable anyway.
6) People-watching: this isn't as creepy as it sounds...it's so much fun to sit outside and say hi to everyone who walks by.
7) Weather-observation: whether it's rainy or abundantly sunny, a porch is always a good place to sit and enjoy the weather without getting soaking wet or suffering from sunburn.
8) Phone calls: need to catch up with that old high school friend you haven't talked to in awhile? Take the conversation onto the porch and breathe in some fresh air while not disturbing your roommates in the living room.
9) Breakfast: the best way to start off the day is by eating a bowl of cereal on the porch in the cool morning air.
10) Grill-usage: not only is grilling out delicious, but it keeps the kitchen from heating up as well.
