Never-ending Craziness!

Well, after I got back from Phoenix, the busy-ness of my life definitely didn't stop! My great-grandma had been in the nursing home for awhile and was starting to deteriorate pretty quickly, so that night after I got back into Ohio, my mom and I went over to the nursing home to see her one more time. Although she was unconscious, it was nice to sit with her for awhile one last time. She ended up passing away that night, just about two hours after we said goodbye. I still had to go back to Dayton that next morning so I didn't miss another day of classes, but that meant I would soon be back home again for the funeral. I was back at UD by Thursday morning for an entire day of classes, worked all day Friday, then had our formal wine tasting on Saturday night for my world of wines class and was driving back to Columbus again early Sunday morning! We spent all day at the funeral home for the calling hours, then I came home late last night and finished a paper that was due today even though I wasn't able to go to class. So I emailed my professor the paper and was up early this morning for a long day of funeral activities with many extended family members I hadn't seen in awhile.

Despite how busy things have been and that I had to mourn the death of my "Great-Grammie," I am so thankful the way things worked out. I was able to see her just hours before she passed away because I was already home in Columbus, which really meant a lot to me. Saying goodbye to her last night and today was pretty difficult at times, but it was great to be with the whole family again and it was wonderful to celebrate the amazing life she lived. She lived a long and fulfilling life so it was wonderful to reflect on that and hear everyone recall so many wonderful stories about her all weekend long. I know that Great-Grammie would have wanted us to celebrate her life and that's exactly what we did. After the funeral, we went over to my grandparents' house for a true Italian celebration!

In the midst of the mourning, celebrating, and abundant family time, I keep forgetting that I am still a student. I feel like I haven't seen my roommates in ages and I haven't slept at my house in Dayton for more than two nights in a row in a week and a half! In a few minutes here I am about to head back to Dayton hopefully for at least a good amount of time so I can catch up on school and get back in the swing of things, because if anything, things definitely haven't been routine lately! I'm okay with that, though...variety is always a good thing. Finally, I would like to dedicate this blog to Great-Grammie. She is the reason for the amazing family I've been able to see these past couple days and a huge link that has helped keep us all connected. She was loved by so many people and I know she is looking down on us smiling as she sees us celebrate her wonderful life.
