Loving UD

When I attempt to write a new blog and I'm trying to think about the best way to let prospective students know why they should come here, sometimes all that comes to my mind is "I love UD" and I just want to write that and make an entire post out of it. It sounds so corny, but that's honestly how I feel sometimes and I don't even have specific examples to give because I love everything about this place. My roommates and I have been reminiscing a lot lately about freshman year and how we can't believe we're going to be seniors soon. I feel like I talk about this all the time, but it's something I still can't get over. The past three years of college have been so wonderful, challenging, exciting, unexpected, and life-changing all the same time. I look at the person I was freshman year and it's so different than who I was sophomore year, but this year I'm even much different than I was last year (anyone can notice this when they just look at my old blogs from previous years). Each year brings so many new and unique experiences, and here I am wishing that this school year would be over just because of the overwhelming amounts of schoolwork, when I should really be appreciating each test, paper, and homework assignment, because I'll only have this type of lifestyle for one more year after this semester is over. Well, when I put it like that, this 12 page paper doesn't seem so bad anymore...

Anyway, in addition to how much I love college and UD, here's a little bit about this past weekend...

This past weekend was "M-Fest" which happens each year on campus. It's sponsored by REACH, a student service organization that focuses on bringing about mental health awareness on campus. Each year I look forward to M-Fest because it's a great day full of fun activities, art, and music. And being a psychology major, mental health awareness is an important issue for me. This year I was even more excited for it because my roommate, Melissa, is actually president of REACH. Since M-Fest is their biggest events of the year, our house has been on an M-Fest frenzy for the past couple months as she's prepared for the big day. When Saturday rolled around and M-Fest was finally here, my other roommates and I couldn't help but be ecstatic for it because we had been hearing the hype about it for such a long time. One of the best parts of the day involved having a video camera strapped to my hand the entire time. Yes, that's right, you will get to learn more about M-Fest in video blog form soon! As I walked around attempting to get footage of as much as possible, I felt like that nerdy mom who wants to get everything for the home movies. My roommates enjoyed their few seconds of fame, so they're hoping they'll still be part of it once all the editing is done. However, I won't spoil the rest of M-Fest for anyone, so you'll just have to wait for the video blog to be posted! Get excited!
