Labor Day weekend and the BSOD
I apologize for the extended period of time between posts, but I haven't had the best luck with my computer lately. Ever since I came back to school, it's been acting kind of strange. It's been slower than normal, and for some reason my wireless won't work at all. Then one day, it just told me that all my memory had been erased and I got the famous "BSOD" which stands for "Blue Screen of Death." The BSOD is not uncommon to many people at UD, unfortunately, but the good part about it all is that our computer help is right on campus. All I have to do is take my computer into Miriam Hall, tell them what is wrong with it, leave it with them, and then I get it back in just a few days and it acts brand new again. Computer problems are going to occur, so I've just accepted that fact and learned to back-up all of my data. The worst is when people have thousands of pictures, documents, and songs, but nothing backed up. Then, when the BSOD occurs, they are devastated by the amount of information they've lost. I haven't lost all of my information yet (knock on wood), because the BSOD doesn't always erase your hard drive, but I also keep mostly everything backed up. My documents are stored on my flash drive and my pictures are stored online. What I haven't backed up yet, however, are my thousands of songs on iTunes. That's the tricky part...however, at UDit they will back up your information for you for $20 a DVD I think. Not too bad of a deal for ALL that music.
Oh, and speaking of other technical difficulties, pictures are now up from Spain. So, if you're interested in that feel free to take a look at some of my images from my trip abroad this summer!
On a less technology-related note, Labor Day weekend was spent well. We had an ice cream social at our house on Friday where many people showed up...it was nice to see so many taking part in building community with us. We also had another community event last night called "Sundae Sunday" and we had people over to make their own ice cream sundaes. It was a lot of ice cream in one weekend, but with this heat, I think it's necessary. However, after countless bowls of this frozen dairy treat, I feel like a good jog might be on the agenda for today. The "freshmen 15" might be expected, but I don't think putting on a "junior 15" would be a good idea. I'm still trying to work off that freshman 15 from 2 years ago anyway! But when there are constantly events on campus with free pizza, ice cream, and other junk food, it's difficult to keep yourself from indulging! Speaking of food, I should probably go get ready for the Labor Day cookout today...and If there's one thing I've learned these past two years of college, it's that free food should never be taken for granted.
