It's Official!

Well, after a good amount of discernment, I think it's safe to say that I officially know what I'm doing next year! It's weird to think about it, but in less than four months, I will be moving out to Phoenix, Arizona to begin a year of service with a wonderful organization called Maggie's Place! After applying and interviewing with programs in both Arizona and Colorado, I ended up getting a better feel for Maggie's Place. It just seemed to fit.

I feel like I can relate this to my college search process four years ago. I vividly remember visiting UD and then visiting Xavier later that same day. The entire time at Xavier, I kept comparing everything to Dayton and telling my mom how I thought UD had out-performed this school in multiple aspects. I would say things, "Well at Dayton the campus is prettier," or "At UD, they have a better program for..." It was obvious that UD was the perfect fit for me. When asked why they chose UD, most students say that they came to campus and just had that "feeling" this place was right. The same thing happened to me not only at UD four years ago, but just a few weeks ago when I visited Maggie's Place. And since that visit, I haven't been able to get that place out of my mind. Although part of me is nervous moving so far away, leaving my friends, and leaving UD, the other part of me is itching to begin this wonderful new experience. Oh, and did I mention I won't have to pack a winter coat? :)
