Hometown Adventures
Something my friends and I have been doing since freshmen year and still hasn't gotten old is going to visit each other's homes all together. It's so much fun to get a big group of friends and spend the weekend showing off your hometown with home-cooked meals from wonderful parents.
This past weekend we spent Friday night in Hilliard, my hometown. My brother is a senior in high school and an amazing actor. He was the lead in the winter play last weekend, so we all ventured home to see him perform. He really enjoyed having not only his sister home, but to have seven of my friends there as well. He referred to us as his "college girls." Personally, I think we made him look pretty cool in front of his friends...it's not every day a high school boy has a whole section of college senior girls cheering for him!
Although we only stayed for one night and it was a pretty quick trip, I had a blast and I am pretty sure my friends did, too. My mom got to have a house full of kids again and made an amazing dinner for us before the play. Then afterward, my brother hosted the cast party at our house so we got to see him and all his friends hang out after the play.
The play was very impressive. My brother was only one of four actors for the entire production and they did an amazing job. I don't understand how anyone can memorize almost three hours straight of lines. I can barely remember lyrics to songs...how on earth do they memorize all those lines!?!
Anyway, it was great going home and spending time with both my family and friends. My parents couldn't have been more hospitable to us...I can always count on my mom being ready to entertain guests and I love it! I think the best part was waking up Saturday morning and looking around to see all seven of us sleeping in my bedroom...it reminded me of a freshmen year dorm room all over again!
