Dessert Night!

As I've mentioned before, I live in one of the six Marianist Student Community houses on campus. Last year, at our house on Woodland, we had "Sundae Sundays" once a month and had a ton of people over to our house to eat ice cream and spread the community spirit throughout the UD neighborhood. This year, however, we're doing "Dessert Night" so it's something a little different. The girls that lived in our house last year were also a Marianist Community, so their weekly Marianist event was Dessert Night on Mondays and we decided to carry on that tradition this year! Each Monday night at 10:00 we invite anyone and everyone over to our house to share in some sweet treats. So far this year, our turn out has been pretty impressive and the word has been spreading! They even wrote an article about it in the Flyer News. Last week we decided to celebrate the beginning of fall so we decorated a cake in fall colors and had some fun pumpkin treats, as well (as evident in the picture).

Although it's been much more work to have this event every week instead of once a month like last year, we have a lot of fun with it. I know that I look forward to Monday nights because it's a chance to see people that I wouldn't normally see during the week because our schedules are so different. But this way, I'm guaranteed to at least see them on Monday. And what better way to begin the week?! I think Monday is the best day for it because it gives people something to look forward to since the first day of the week is not typically as exciting as a Friday or Saturday. We hope to keep creating some new and fun dishes, but if you have any good recipes, send them my way and we'll incorporate them in our next Dessert Night!
