Home Stretch

We're back and ready for the home stretch! It's weird to think that the life I've lived for the past four years is about to change significantly, but right now I'm not trying to focus on that and I am just soaking up my last little bit here at the place I've called home for the last four years. My friends and I are in 100% "hangout" mode, which means our first priority right now is finishing the things on our "bucket list" and just enjoying each other's company. In the past few days we've already crossed off a few good things, such as going to the 5th Street Deli and the Bagel Cafe. These are both great local places to get a good lunch in Dayton and I'm sad I hadn't discovered them sooner. The city of Dayton has some awesome gems, and I think it's sad so many UD students graduate without ever taking the time to check out downtown. One of my favorite things about downtown Dayton is the 2nd Street Market. Last summer it became one of our routine things to do every Saturday morning. The Market has many different local businesses all in one place, such as homemade bread, fresh produce, crepes, Thai cuisine, and arts and crafts! It's a great place to go for a good lunch and to stock up on some fresh, local produce! It's not only things within UD that I will miss, but things around the city of Dayton that has become home as well. Three years ago I didn't understand why people would want to stick around and work in Dayton after graduating from UD, but now I definitely understand why. It's not only the University that you fall in love with while you're here, but it's the entire city. As I drove back from spring break and saw the Dayton skyline, it made me sad that it was one of the last times I'd be driving back to UD. I apologize in advance if these blogs start to become too sentimental, but as everything we do becomes "the last," I will be writing about it!
