Family Fun-Filled Weekend
Well this past weekend was a BLAST and I sure am sad to say that it's over. The craziness began with Friday for my little brother's graduation party. He had invited about 130 people and only 20 had said they couldn't attend...so we knew this was going to be one big production. If there's one thing our family can do well, it's throw parties, so my parents were psyched about having this big get-together to celebrate my brother's completion of high school. All week long before the party there were numerous preparations to be made which we divided among all four of us. Eventually Friday was here and that meant we needed to make some airport trips before the party could begin...my dad's side of the family was coming into town from all different parts of the country. I was assigned to airport duty so I began my day with picking up my uncle and cousin from Florida. We grabbed some lunch and were off again for the second airport trip to pick up my grandma who was flying in from Baltimore. Then a few hours later, I was headed back to the airport once again to pick up my uncle who flew in from California. After this, it was finally time for the party to begin. Hoards of high school graduates and their families, along with my brother's teachers, filtered in and out the entire evening. Luckily, I invited some friends of mine to partake in the festivities as well. So between them and my family, we had a blast. The party lasted until about 1am and then it was finally time to go to bed and get ready for the next big day that awaited us.
The next morning we all awoke early and headed up north for my cousin's graduation party. We played golf all day long in the beautiful weather and then settled into our hotel to get ready for a really great dinner with many family and friends for her graduation celebration. The restaurant overlooked a beautiful lake and the wonderful weather made for such a perfect evening. After dinner and dessert, the entire family headed back to the hotel for some card games shortly followed by sleep since we were all exhausted. The next day we headed to my cousin's actual graduation ceremony followed by lunch to culminate the celebrations and then we finally headed back to Columbus for one last dinner with all of us. It sure was a packed weekend but I enjoyed every minute of it. It was the first time in five years that all the cousins and all their dads on that side of the family were together at once. My grandma couldn't have been happier to see all her sons and grandchildren together at once like that. And although we were all exhausted, it's sad to say bye to them, but I'm so thankful I was able to see all of them for such a long period of time right before I leave for Arizona. But before the weekend is officially over, I still need to make two more trips to the airport!
