Fun in the Snow

Last week was by far one of the best weeks here at the University of Dayton. I say this because we had boat loads of snow and ice. Although this made for an extremely dangerous predicament for us drivers, it did force the University to cancel classes on Tuesday. What is so great about some may ask? Well, the last time we had classes cancelled here at the fine University of Dayton, I was not here, meaning it was over 3 years ago!

Although the frigid temperatures did keep many of us inside bundle tight, those of us who braved the snow and ice decided to play in it and bask in its glory. For me, I spent most of my time helping fellow Daytonians get their cars unstuck from the snow and get them on their happy way. In fact, even yesterday I helped two young ladies relieve their car from the ice.

I was surprised at the amount of snow that we got in such a short time and to be honest, this was the first time that I could actually enjoy it. I say this because usually I am the one stuck at my house in Cincinnati shoveling the snow out of the driveway the whole day. Lucky for me parking services shovels my "driveway" for me and to them I am much appreciated. The only thing I did not like, however, was the fact that although they did plow down the middle of the parking lots, doing so pushed the snow against our cars, blocking them in. When I first realized this I was appalled because I had no shovel and thought that since I (my parents) paid for a parking pass, I should not be plowed in like the unfortunate souls who park on the streets. This did not make sense to me but in the University's defense, shortly after the snow accumulated, the institute sent us students an e-mail exclaiming that free snow plows were available at the resident halls.

Overall you can see that my last week was surely eventful and I was able to truly play in the snow with my fellow UD goers. I am happy for the 1 cancelled school day that I have gotten in my college career and to be honest, I hope the "weather Gods" can do it again because I had a blast!
