Weekend Adventures
Summer is in full swing and I am taking advantage of the only free time I have, the weekends. I rarely have time to enjoy myself during the week due to work so the weekends tend to be my time to let loose and go wild. For example, this past weekend the only time I actually came home was to sleep.
Saturday started my weekend off strong. Three of my friends and I went canoeing. 6 miles down a river with two eagle scouts is almost the definition of adventure. We must have attempted to get in and out of every touch situation on that river. If we saw a small shallow path meant for experienced kayakers we had to attempt it in our large bulky canoe. Every rock in the river was a target. If we saw it we aimed for it. If an area was calm and made for smooth sailing we would attempt it backwards. The whole trip was exhilarating. The fact that we followed it swiftly with a full meal at Cincinnati's famous rib restaurant Montgomery Inn just added icing to the cake.
Sunday ended up being more relaxed which was probably pretty good because I needed some rest before work started again on Monday. I started it off by meeting one of my friends from Alabama for lunch followed swiftly but a few rounds of mini golf. While my putting tends to be my worst trait when golfing I was surprised by my own skill. I actually got a hole in one and was very close on multiple occasions. Any true golfer would laugh at me but I did not think I did too poorly. Afterward we took a nice walk though my favorite park. While it was not an incredibly active day I preferred it to sitting in front of my TV or computer.
Next weekend I will be in Colorado for my cousin's wedding. I have a feeling I am going to end up being even more active over there. Maybe I will take up rock climbing.
