New Year, New House

I received great new the other day. Apparently one of my roommates got to move in to our new house early because he was staying on campus over the summer. He has already moved in and has started putting up posters and planning out rooms. I work only minutes from UD so I decided to stop by and take a look at the house I will be moving into soon.

As with any house, our new house has good and bad aspects. The house seems like it has a ton of space, which is good. I cannot say if it will have much space after we move in, but right now there are two large living areas, a kitchen, and three bedrooms. My roommate also informed me that we have a free parking area included with our house as well. I do not have a car on campus so it does not affect me much but it will be nice for my roommates with cars. Most importantly, the house has a porch. Porches are very important at UD. There is something about sitting out on your porch and talking to people as they pass that is relaxing and incredibly enjoyable.

Unfortunately there are bad aspects as well; the most prominent being that there is only one small bathroom. With 6 guys living in this house I am sure the problems caused by one bathroom will be some of the most difficult to deal with the entire year. There also does not seem to be much storage space. Hopefully we will have enough shelving to store all of our junk otherwise we will just have to get rid of some of it. The house also has no air conditioning which makes it very hot all the time (another reason porches are enjoyable).

Overall I would say the house lives up to my expectations. While I was checking out the house our new neighbors stopped over to say hello, so we got to hang out for a bit and get to know them. They have been in their house all summer and said the rest of the street was practically deserted until we came. I can not imagine it will stay that way for long. Early move is just a week away and I am sure most people are like me and cannot wait to move back in. 6 days left and counting until I move in. I am getting excited.
