Hammering through Break
Spring Break is such a relieving experience for most students. Some go down to Florida and enjoy the beaches, others go vacationing in Europe or other exotic places, and some just take it easy at home relaxing with friends. However, for me waking up at 8 am and heading to a worksite to build a house all day is the only way to go. This is what I do on my yearly Habitat for Humanity Collegiate Challenge trip.
Collegiate Challenge is a program where groups of college students donate their spring break to Habitat for Humanity and travel to habitat worksites around the country to help build houses. This year UD's group went to Maryville, Tennessee. On our trip we ended up working on two different houses and had a great time working on the foundation, pouring concrete, hammering in floorboards and putting up drywall. This was my second Collegiate Challenge and I still cannot get enough. There is just something about working on a house that relaxes me and lets me release all the stress of school. Of course, now that I have returned, life has never seemed more hectic. With school coming to a climax, preparation for habitat next year, and settling summer plans, I barely have time to sleep. Only two weeks left but I am sure I would not be able to make it if I had not gotten that break. Now I am ready for the final lunge.
