The Colorful Oregon District
Last night, I experienced another aspect of the diverse Oregon District in Dayton. I ate a Thai 9, a restaurant that serves up generous portions of Thai food and Sushi. Their menu is huge, so you're bound to find something you like. Everything can be ordered on a spicy scale of 1-9, with 9 being the hottest. I had mango curry with a spice level of 4, which was plenty hot for me. I cannot imagine having something on level 9!!
The Oregon District is little historic district that surrounds 5th Street just east of downtown. Old brick shops, restaurants and houses line the cobblestone streets. The District is an interesting mix of upscale restaurants, bars, and tatoo parlors. This means you can see anyone and everyone on 5th street. As a way to tell the graduating seniors "you're getting older", UD SGA organizes a senior salute that buses seniors down to the Oregon District for an evening. I view it as a symbolic move away from college night life to the "yuppie" night life.
