Stander Symposium
Today is the annual Stander Symposium and is designated as an alternative day of learning at UD. The event is named after Bro. Joseph Stander, Professor of Mathematics and Provost (1974-1989). The Symposium celebrates everything that UD promotes: academic excellence, service, intellectual discussion, artistic expression, and spirituality. All of these facets of UD are presented in a collaborative environment that includes speakers, poster presentations, exhibits, and other means of sharing knowledge. This is also a great opportunity for students to present projects or theses. Many of my friends who are doing theses will have a poster set up along with hundreds of others in Kennedy Union Ballroom. I will be attending this session to get ideas for my involvement next year.
Quite frankly, this is also a great day to catch up on homework and all the projects due at the end of the semester. Teachers typically do not hold class today, and many require their students to go to at least one part of the Symposium. It is a great way for the entire University to come together for the exchange of knowledge and ideas.
