Spiritual Growth at UD
Instead of giving you a narrative of events in my life over the past week, I thought I would provide some insight to the many opportunities to spiritual growth at UD. I will speak from my own Catholic perspective, although there are avenues for expression of any type of faith at UD. I was raised with a definite awareness of my religion and continue to practice it every week at Mass. There are four Masses on Sunday at the UD Chapel and one, called Ghetto Mass, at McGinnis Center at the heart of the student neighborhood. Masses are at convenient times for the typical college student and are attended by a large number of students and faculty. My favorite aspect of Mass at UD is that the priests are very good at giving meaningful homilies that college students can easily relate to. They often use examples of student life to convey their message. UD is distinguished by a strong sense of community, and this is what makes a religious group strong.
Although I have not participated in any retreats or religious clubs, I know many people who have and who got a lot out of their experience. Additionally, UD has numerous service clubs that are involved in a variety of activities and issues.
