Settled in for the Summer
Well, it's been a busy couple of weeks. I finished exams, which was a great feeling. My grades turned out to be pretty good and I was able to relax for a few days before I started my summer surveying course. It's a field class that has to be taken once to receive a civil engineering degree. UD does this class for the three weeks immediately following exams in May. It's nice to do everything at once, but it would be more helpful to learn the actual practice simultaneously with the lecture class. Plus, the setup makes for a really long day, usually 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. or so. The weather really could not be worse for a class that takes place outside all day every day. It has been raining for a week straight here in Dayton and hasn't gone far out of the fifties.
Last week, I stayed with my room-mate Dan and his family in Beavercreek. I had to do this because of housing contract periods with UD. Then I moved in to Chambers Street this week with my buddies for the summer. I've been looking forward to having a house for so long that it is hard to believe that I'm actually in it now. It's great - lots of room and a great feeling of independence and maturity. I just want the weather to get better so I can enjoy my porch!
