Parents Weekend Coming Up
It's that time of the year again. The end of October means only one thing besides Halloween: Parents Weekend. Like many other universities, UD hosts this tradition every year as a chance for parents to visit their son or daughter and check on them two months into the school year. I have actually attended a few parents weekends myself, tagging along to visit my older siblings at their respective colleges. There are plenty of activities planned by the University for students and their parents to participate in over the weekend. These activities range from a pub night with live music to the UD football game to a dinner and brunch.
My parents have been faithful in visiting me occasionally througout the school year, and they usually make the trip for parents weekend. We typically pick and choose official events to attend on campus and spend the rest of the time around Dayton. It's a great change of pace from the normal weekend and an opportunity to be with your parents and enjoy some good food.
Parents weekend evolves somewhat during your years at UD. Freshman year, your parents can come and see how you are adjusting to college and can take you away from the dorms and campus, giving you the novelty of off-campus food and activities. By the time you get a house in the student neighborhood, the tables turn and you are able to host your parents and expose them to college life at its best.
