Notre Dame Football
This past weekend I traveled to South Bend to visit my friend, Kevin, and attend the Notre Dame football game against Stanford. Kevin graduated from UD in 2007 and is getting a Master's degree in civil engineering at Notre Dame. He lives in a house conveniently located about half a mile south of campus. In fact, you can hear the marching band on Saturday morning of gameday. The weather for the game was perfect for October football: 60s and sunny. We stood the entire game with the Notre Dame student body, cheering the Irish to victory.
Notre Dame has a beautiful campus and a rich Catholic tradition. I first visited the campus 17 years ago when my oldest sister, Anne Marie, started school there. Obviously, I don't remember much from that trip, but I do remember the visit during my junior year while considering potential colleges. Although Notre Dame was impressive, I felt more at home at UD. I know it sounds like a cliche, but UD does feel like a family. I love walking through the hallways and saying hello to a teacher or visiting friends on a porch in the student neighborhood. Also, I'm just a weekend drive away from Notre Dame football!
