Listening to the Flyers...1940s Style
Last Saturday evening, I went into a time warp with my friends. This happens fairly often when the Dayton basketball team is playing away. You see, the games at other schools are not always shown on TV, but they are always on AM radio. So for the handful of games that are only on the radio, I along with my Flyer faithful friends sit around a radio listening in to the action. I have to admit that I do get a bit of nostalgia while doing this, even though I was born well after the invention of television. What is really unique about it is that everything you know about the game is being told to you by two announcers. Therefore, you share their excitement, emotion, and opinion throughout the game.
By the way, the flyers did win again versus St. Louis and will be playing in a big game this Wednesday at the arena against UMass. They are now #14 in the AP poll!!!
