Housing
This past weekend was the annual and infamous housing lottery here at UD. Every year, UD students choose where they want to live for the next year by entering into a lottery online. However, this lottery, unlike others, is anything but random. Students form groups with people they want to live with, and the groups are ranked according to class, conduct violations, and credit hours. For juniors and seniors, it is all about getting the best house possible. Key factors that come into play are location, size of house, amenities in house, and features of the house. This year, my group and I chose location as the our top priority and succeeded in securing a house on the 400 block of Kiefaber. This puts us very close to campus, in particular the engineering building. It is also about 75 yards from the RecPlex, so I will have no excuse for not exercising. It will also be nice living in the larger south student neighborhood rather than the north student neighborhood. Additionally, we will have a huge backyard perfect for cookouts and the sort.
My suggestion to future UD lottery contestants: get lots of credits and find other people with lots of credits. It will definitely pay off.
