First Snow of the Season...Already?

I went to sleep last night not knowing what to expect this morning. I had heard about an approaching winter storm that would arrive overnight. This event was bringing back memories of February when I got stranded during two snow storms. The first one left me stranded in Cincinnati, forcing me to spend a night with one of my co-workers from my co-op. The second and worse one left me stranded in Dayton and missing work for two days. I thought I would make it through the rest of my co-op this year without the hassle of snow and ice. During my past four years in Ohio, we haven't gotten significant snow until after Christmas break.

Needless to say, I was a bit dismayed when I woke up to approximately 4 inches of snow on the roads and on my car. Fortunately, my car, parked on the street, had not been blocked in by snow drifts from a snow plow. After a few minutes of brushing off the snow, I was on my way. On my long way. A typical commute from UD to downtown Cincinnati is 1 hour. It took about 45 minutes longer than that this morning. I counted 13 cars in the ditch along 75 between Dayton and Cincinnati. The traffic moved slowly but steadily and I finally made it to work.

I love the snow, except when I have to drive somewhere. It will be nice next semester when I only have to worry about the 2 minute walk to Kettering Labs at 8am in the snow.
