Europe's a popular place
Perusing over my colleagues' blogs, I notice that a few people are going overseas this summer to study and play. UD has many study abroad programs, and there seems to be a new one added just about every year. It is getting to the point where there is conveniently a study abroad program associated with just about any academic area. Of course, the department of foreign languages offers several different opportunities to sharpen your speaking skills in another country. The school of engineering as a couple different programs that I know of. In addition to more "traditional" locations in Europe, studying abroad is sending students to places like Asia, Africa, South and Central America, and even Australia. One can find a program that fits his or her goals with regards to what is expected and what will be gained. Some programs have an academic focus while others hold service as a top priority. I participated in a language program in Germany two summers ago, and I would say studying abroad is something you MUST do while in college. The experiences and insights you gain from immersion in a foreign culture prove to be invaluable.
