Co-oping
After a couple of days on the job, I have to say that I am happy with my decision to co-op. Besides the heat, I enjoy working outside and seeing the progression of a large construction project like the Greene. It is really amazing to see how much planning and organizing is involved in such a project where there are so many people doing so many different things at the same time. I like the people I work with, and they have fun while being serious about getting things done. It is great to be able to apply what you learn in the classroom to your work in the field, and vice versa.
I have actually been assigned the "late shift" which means that I don't have to be at work until noon and I'm there until eight or nine at night. It's not bad, especially for someone like me who isn't particularly a morning person. It does cut down on how much I see my roommates, though. Fortunately, I'm pretty tired when I get home, so I can fall asleep even though it's incredibly hot in our house. Maybe I'll get an air conditioner if I get a bonus.
