Basketball Enthusiasm
Last Friday, ticket vouchers for the UD men's basketball season went on sale. The email from Red Scare, the UD student fan organization, stated that vouchers would be sold between 5:30-7:00pm. There are two different vouchers you can get. One type costs $30 and guarantees you a seat in the student section at every game. The other vouchers are free and get you a leftover seat, if available. I have purchased the "guaranteed" vouchers for the past four years and planned to do so again this year. In previous years, the vouchers were sold during the kickoff pep rally, Midnight Madness, which turned into Flyer Madness, which apparently no longer exists. Anyway, by the sound of the Red Scare email, you could come anytime and pick up your vouchers.
So I, along with my roommates, at a liesurely dinner and headed over to buy vouchers around 6:15pm on Friday. To our dismay, the guaranteed vouchers were sold out! After attending almost every UD basketball game for the past four years, I was not going to sit in the nosebleeds or worse, not get tickets at all my fifth and final year. The spirit points system is good, but seniority must be factored into the distribution somehow. These vouchers had never sold out the first day before. Also, it turns out that the vouchers began to be sold shortly after 5:00pm on Friday, despite the information given in the email about th 5:30-7:00pm slot.
After all the uproar following this confusion, Red Scare has supposedly devised a new distribution plan that will be revealed later this week. Hopefully its logical and rational this time.
