Snow Day!

The bad thing about a large amount of snow: limiting all types of outdoor mobility. The good thing about a lot snow: no school!

Yesterday, with a few inches of snow already on the ground, sleet fell for much of the evening. More snow was reportedly on the way for overnight into this morning, but I had no idea what to expect when I went to bed. I awoke at 7:00am and immediately checked my email. Much to my delight, the email I was hoping for was there! All classes were canceled for the day. Like when I was younger, my excitement was so great that I could not go back to sleep, even though I didn't have class to attend. Wanting to experience the winter storm first hand, I quickly bundled up and took the snow shovel outside. After shoveling away a few inches of snow, I hit a thick layer of ice which made the task of clearing off the steps and sidewalk much more difficult.

I have to admit, it's 5:20pm now and I have not gone outside since 7:45am. While somewhat depressing, I have gotten a lot of work done and am about to walk to campus to grab some dinner. Even though it's still January, it already feels like it's been a long winter. Hopefully the worst in terms of winter storms is over for the season.
