Put-In-Bay
What a weekend! I just got back from camping at the South Bass Island State Park, aka, Put-In-Bay's campground. That is one wild island to say the least! I had never been there before, but now I can't wait to go back.
We drove from Toledo to Catawba Island, caught the ferry and took our car over, and set up camp for the night. There were people everywhere, mostly in golf carts that they rented for the day (which is clearly the way to get around). Saturday we went into town, meaning a 3 minute drive down the road, and bummed around a bit. We went to the national monument there, enjoyed the scenery, and then enjoyed the nightlife. They even have cabs that pick you up right at your campsite!
I won't retell all the things I saw there, but the atmosphere is amazing. Boats and jet skis, live bands, souvenir shops and bars, adults, grandparents and college students...all having a great time away from home for the weekend.
If you haven't been before, I suggest you save a weekend now and get up there.
