How do I move all this stuff?

The time for me to move to Cleveland is quickly approaching, and I'm starting to realize the volume of "stuff" I have to take with me.

The days of fully furnished university apartments are long gone, sadly. Now I'm responsible for bringing my own bed, dresser, desk, the whole nine yards. It's a lot of stuff to transport and a lot of stuff to carry up flights of stairs too. We looked into various options, but it all seems so expensive! Moving companies are out of the question, and even renting a truck now with the price of gas seems out of my price range.

I've decided we're going to do this move the old fashioned way. Tomorrow I'll be driving with a friend and taking a load of items, and then on Saturday I will officially move with my parents truck and my car. If I can't fit all my belongings in three car-loads, I think I just need to evaluate why I have so much stuff in the first place.

So now it's time to prioritize what gets to go and what doesn't. How do I tell my dad that yes I absolutely do need two storage bins of shoes? Maybe I'll leave my bed behind and just sleep on the couch.
